Polaroid 600

I have just seen a blog that said the infamous Polaroid 600 instant film is to be produced again.
I checked out the Polaroid site and this is what they have to say...

"Supported by a strategic relationship with Summit Global Group, a longtime Polaroid partner, and The Impossible Project, the manufacturer of classic film for Polaroid film cameras, Polaroid will offer a completely redesigned, modern version of the Polaroid OneStep camera, the PIC 1000. The PIC 1000 will be available in a range of fun colors and use classic Polaroid Color 600 Instant Film to produce the brand’s classic white border instant pictures. The Polaroid Color 600 Instant Film will work with both classic and new Polaroid cameras and will be offered in packs of 10 pictures. The new classic PIC 1000 camera and instant color film will be available at national retailers in 2010. "

I am a massive fan of instant photography and this is something very special to be happening. Fingers crossed I can find somewhere selling the new film real soon!

Shanghai styles...

Shamelessly stolen from big Revok's blog.

Some shots from the development of the 2010 Shanghai Architecture Expo.
This stuff is mind blowing, its staggering to think that only a few hundred years ago, mankind lived in little more than huts. How far we have come in even the last lifetime...

Check the site for more information and more photos.

FIX ME, FIX MY HEAD

Today I had the chance to go exploring an abandoned mental institute. I have always wanted to see somewhere like this. I have had visions of how they would be, and today, everything I had imagined came true.

This place was, for want of a better work, insane! Vast, old, creepy, overgrown, dilapidated and just what I wanted.

I took some photos, these are the best ones but there are many more, there was far too much to look at.

The first building we went in
Blue screen window
Service lift shaft
Think of the feet that paced these boards...
This was some photo we found, you can just make out faces still.
Shattered and torn
It always finds its way in...
Split screen.
Welcome
My favorite shot, the colour when we came up the stairs was so intense
Hallways of the always
Grim...
Grime
Darkness calls
Window, arrow, A
Window framing
The stairs couldn't have been more perfect
Someone's old football stickers, patient or staff, we dont know...
I really liked this, splat
Lectrics
Shank

Canvasing

Sneak peaks of a canvas I have been painting for a friend of mine. I haven't done one of these for a while so it was nice to get back onto it.

COLLECTION

This is a collection of the artwork I have made that has then been used for various bands record artwork and also merch. I'm pretty fond of this little lot and hope to add to it in the future.

Its so nice seeing people wearing the shirts I have designed or having a real record with my artwork on it.

Cant wait to get further into the projects I have on the go at the moment.

What he said...

I like quotes. I like the way we can all interpret something different from one persons words. I often get lost wondering what that person actually meant when they put pen to paper or the words passed their lips. Have years of repetition misconstrued the original meaning or was it left ambiguous enough for people to establish the meaning themselves. I think it is important to keep a record of all the nice things people say. Quotes can pick us up and give us something to believe in when we are down or inspire us if we are stuck in a rut. They can remind us of an important moment in time or speak about feelings for another person that one might never be able to express on their own.

Recently I was introduced to a site called thinkexist.com, a site dedicated to cataloging quotes for people to reference of just browse. The site is great and worth a look but while being read some of the quotes a funny feeling came over me. Each word of each quote began to sound muffled and distant as I slipped into a bit of a daydream about what I had heard. I was overwhelmed by the words all these amazing writers, philosophers and great people had said. Instead of feeling inspired or happy, I felt truly sad. All these amazing words sounded so perfect and so well written that I realised that this is something I will never ever have the ability to do, and that thought made my heart sink. Knowing that I'll never be able to communicate what I think and feel in the way these people do. I felt almost helpless and that saying another word was an insult to these writers.

I have never been that great with words, I'm not very clever, I don't read anywhere near enough as I should do and I always struggle to communicate my feelings. I just hope that the few words I manage to get out now and then mean enough to my family, loved ones and friends to not have to always rely on the words of others, unless of course they can say it better then me.

Things I Like

When I first thought about starting a blog I wanted it to be a collection of things I found along my travels and day to day wanderings. So far I don't think I have put anything up much like this, so here is the start of a regular section called 'Things I Like'...

Telegraph poles
Wasted Polaroid shots
Sunset over Covent Garden
An old trigonometry text book
A crazy messed up print statistics report. Printer error.
More waste from peel-apart polaroids.
Residue from cleaning woodblock printing type.
PHOTOCOPIER!!!!! My tool of choice for much of my work.
More telegraph poles.
"There is nothing like a truck or a gate or some particular wall that has nothing but tags"
Symbols.
Accidental colour combinations.
Pipework at my Uni.
